Champaca Bookstore Cafe
Rooftop bookstore-cafe in Vasanth Nagar, thirty seats and an avocado tree out the window, with a curation Crossword won't carry.
why we keep going,
The bookstore is the reason. Independent, women-run, with a curation that leans into small presses and translation. The cafe upstairs is the bonus.
Coffee is by Third Wave; the menu by Copper & Cloves. Order the pasta of the day; the room does the rest of the work.
Thirty seats means it fills by 11am on weekends. Go on a weekday at 3pm and you'll get the corner with the tree.
local context
Radhika Timbadia opened Champaca in 2019 to push lesser-known voices, translations and regional publishers. The shop sits on the rooftop of a bungalow off Queens Road, named after the champaca tree out front.
